Mary Poppins

Response to Mary Poppins

How would you react if you saw a man laughing hysterically and floating on a chair? In Mary Poppins, by P.L Travers there are a lot of mysterious things going on, especially how a man is laughing while floating! Also when a girl comes flying through the sky just holding an umbrella. The lady in the sky is Mary Poppins, and she comes to be the new nanny for the rich family. She comes because she is the nanny, and to teach the misbehaved children to act polite.

The plotline for Mary Poppins is Romance. It’s not romantic, but it follows the plotline. First, the family’s nanny quit because the children were so naughty, and then it ended with life symbolism, which in this case was thinking about the children and whole family in a positive way which is making the father happy.

Even though the plotline fits in with the story, the characteristics fit better. The characteristics are pretty much a fantasy vision. Also, the main character (Mary) can do no wrong, and is in control. Mary Poppins the movie is highly unrealistic with good as powerful, and bad is weak and laughable.

The symbols of romance are very different from the plotline and the characteristics, as in they also go great with the story, but in a different way. The symbols in romance that match up with the movie are: morning, birds chirping, lots of sun, exotic, colors, and much more. These symbols are so important to the romance mode.

All in all, the movie was romance and it was a great film! It was so funny and the songs were great in the musical. P.L Travers should be very proud of himself for making this up!
